Nu Oli Hawaiian Worship Service

On Monday, February 1st, Salem Lutheran Church held the first “Nu Oli” (“Joyful News”) Hawaiian Worship Service, which will continue to be held the first Monday of each month. 53 were in attendance for the first service.  The service includes readings and songs in Hawaiian (though English translations will almost always be available throughout the service as needed), and Holy Communion will also be offered.  You are invited to experience this unique worship opportunity!

Haiti Earthquake Relief

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocked the island country of Haiti on Tuesday, January 12. Buildings are destroyed, the search for survivors is intense and the streets of Haiti are filled with people in shock and searching for loved ones among the rubble. ELCA Disaster Response partners have survived the quake and are already working to serve the people of Haiti.

Your help is needed today to bring immediate relief and continued hope for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. About 3 million people, one-third of Haiti’s population, were affected by this earthquake.

One hundred percent of your gifts designated to Haiti will be used in this vital response effort.  You may make online donations to the Haiti Earthquake Relief here.

The Wise Still Seek Him

Welcome to the website of Salem Lutheran Church in Orlando, Florida! May the blessings of the Christmas and Epiphany seasons guide your heart and soul as you celebrate the start of the year 2010.  Throughout the season of Epiphany we celebrate significant ways that God was revealed to us through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, beginning with the celebration on January 10th of his baptism at the Jordan River by his cousin John and culminating with the celebration of his Transfiguration on February 14th (also remembered as the feast day of a saint named Valentinus.)

Salem's DASH Strategy
Discipleship -To provide opportunities for our members to grow in their faith and to take on active roles in the life of the church. To create new leaders within the church and to increase our presence in the spiritual life of our community.

Assimilation -
To nurture and support each other as we integrate new members into the congregation, providing a welcoming worship experience with opportunities for fellowship. To reach out to inactive members and visitors so that they are encouraged to join us in discipleship.

Service -
“The church is the church only when it exists for others…” says Dietrich Bonnhoffer. We reflect God’s love when we serve others. This encompasses our everyday actions as well as our more organized efforts.

Heart – To provide all the resources necessary to meet the vision for the ministry of the Gospel by Salem Lutheran Church. This includes faith, hope, love, courage, and the commitment of time, talents, and treasures by the people of God.
