The Wise Still Seek Him

Welcome to the website of Salem Lutheran Church in Orlando, Florida! May the blessings of the Christmas and Epiphany seasons guide your heart and soul as you prepare for the arrival of 2010. On Sunday, January 3rd we celebrate (a few days early) the festival of Epiphany which commemorates the arrival of the “wise men from the East” bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the child Jesus. Throughout the rest of the season of Epiphany we celebrate significant ways that God was revealed to us through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, beginning with the celebration on January 10th of his baptism at the Jordan River by his cousin John and culminating with the celebration of his Transfiguration on February 14th (also remembered as the feast day of a saint named Valentinus.)

Salem's DASH Strategy
Discipleship -To provide opportunities for our members to grow in their faith and to take on active roles in the life of the church. To create new leaders within the church and to increase our presence in the spiritual life of our community.

Assimilation -
To nurture and support each other as we integrate new members into the congregation, providing a welcoming worship experience with opportunities for fellowship. To reach out to inactive members and visitors so that they are encouraged to join us in discipleship.

Service -
“The church is the church only when it exists for others…” says Dietrich Bonnhoffer. We reflect God’s love when we serve others. This encompasses our everyday actions as well as our more organized efforts.

Heart – To provide all the resources necessary to meet the vision for the ministry of the Gospel by Salem Lutheran Church. This includes faith, hope, love, courage, and the commitment of time, talents, and treasures by the people of God.
